There was a man living in Peareanasey Kingdom. When the man died he turned into a phoenix in the Himalayan forest. The bird remembered his previous incarnation and knew that his wife and Children were living in poverty and misery and working for others to earn their living.
He felt so sorry for his wife and ch ildren. Then he flew to their house and told them that he was their father and husband reincarnated into the phoenix. "I came to drop one or two golden feathers, so that you can sell them to earn your living and stop working for others.”
She talked to the children, "Children, now we have enough money to make our living because the phoenix who was your father comes to drop feathers once in a while, but how can we trust this bird? If he did not show up, we would have no money to spend. So, when he comes, I think we should catch him and pull out all his feathers to keep them for our future security."
Having heard her mother's argument, the daughters said, "What you've said is not right. We, the children, will not obey you."
One day, the golden phoenix flew to the house to drop its feathers. The wife then enticed him with sweet words. When the bird got closer to her, she caught him and pulled out all the feathers. The bird was badly hurt and struggled to search for a place to hide himself.
Then all the fur turned into white feathers like those of a crane. She tried to sell them, but no one would ever take them. The bird tried to live on with suffering till the new feathers grew and then he flew to the Himalayan forest. He never returned to his wife’s house again.
From that time on, she had no more luck. She had nothing else to sell. She returned to poverty.
