THE BRAHMAN WHO BROKE A POT

Once upon the time, there was a Brahman named Tevasemi who got a jar of beans on New Year's Day. He was very happy because he had great wealth. The Brahman took the jar of beans and walked when the sunlight was very hot. Feeling it was getting hot, he then entered a shed where crocks were stored to take a rest.

The Brahman was lying and holding a stick in his hand to protect his beans. He thought to himself, "1fT sell the beans, I will get 10 riels. I'll take these 10 riels to buy things such as pots and sell them on to make more money."

And I will buy other things like betel leaves and clothes for selling; making money until I get 100,000 riels, and then T will marry four wives.

I will spcnd most timc with and lovc the wife who is the youngest and more beautiful than the rest. If the four wives become jealous, I will act as if I am enraged and beat them with the stick.

While he was indulging in this thought, he broke the jar of beans with his stick and a great many pots as well.

The pot maker heard the crashing noise and ran to see the broken pots. He got mad, and he swore to chase the Brahman to get out of the pot shed.
