King Kottaraja, who reigned over the Kingdom of Panhchal, was married to Queen Somontea. Their eldest son was named Sena Kottaraja, and their younger daughter was named Kesar Somontea. When the King Kottaraja passed away, the royal child, Sena Kottaraja, was crowned King by Queen Somontea. Meanwhile, King Sena Kottaraja ordered a fortune-teller to make a prediction about Princess Kesar Somontea, his younger sister. The fortune teller said that" once she reached the age of 15, she would be abducted by a giant to be his wife in the forest". Soon after, Princess Kesar Somontea came to inform her brother that she wished to go and enjoy herself in the forest. At that moment, the King tried to stop her, but she refused to cooperate, so the King ordered many of his men to accompany his younger sister.
While the princess was enjoying the forest, a single giant, named Komphoan, who lived in a castle in a Himalayas forest, came to enjoy the forest too. When the giant arrived in the Kingdom of Panhchal, Komphoan saw Princess Kesar Somotea playing in the park. The giant instantly fell in love with her and transformed himself into a man and hid himself among the servants. Then, the giant carried the princess off, fleeing to his castle in the Himalayas forest to be his wife.
One day, Komphoan left Princess Kesar Somontea to meet and tell Vishnu all about his lovely wife. Then, Vishnu gave him [piece of] cheesecloth as gift. Komphoan offered it to his wife. After living together for a while, they had a daughter, named Sopor Tevi.
One day, Komphoan went to bet in a game of chess with the Naga King in the Naga Kingdom. The Naga King bet his kingdom, while Komphoan bet his daughter. The result was that Komphoan lost, so the Naga King took Princess Sopor Tevi as his wife.
After Komphoan had carried off Princess Kesar Somontea, the King Sena Kottaraja ordered his men to search for the princess everywhere; however, they could not find the princess. The King was very sad and in suffering because he missed the princess, he left the throne to be ordained as a novice in a pagoda.
During his ordination, there was a district, named Nikrod Kream, where [there lived] an old lady who had seven daughters. On a holy day, the seven daughters of the old woman picked flowers to pay homage to the Buddha statue at the pagoda where the former King was living. When he saw them the King fell in love with them. After they returned home, he left the monkhood. Later on, he went to Nikrod Kream district to ask for their hands in marriage from the old couple, the girls' parents. Upon receiving the agreement of the old 'couple, he brought the seven girls to his kingdom and married them to be his wives.
Shortly after that, the six elder sisters were each delivered of a baby boy on the same day. After that, Kesar Bopha, the top concubine of the King, gave birth to the King of the lions. The youngest sister, Botumea, gave birth to a baby boy, who carried a magic bow in one hand and a conch in the other hand, and was thus named "Saing Silachey", referring to his magic bow and conch.
King Sena Kottaraja ordered the fortune-teller to make a prediction. Since the fortune-teller was offered bribes from the six elder sisters, he said that the Saing Silachey's situation was a presage of doom that might cause danger to the King, subjects and his kingdom. As a result of the serious incitation from his six wives and the fortune-teller, the King therefore ordered Botumea, Kesar Bopha and Saing Silachey, as well as the King of the lions to be exiled to live in the forest.
Due to the charisma of Saing Silachey as Bodhisattva, the Indra ordered angelic architects to create a castle surrounded with a fortress, as well as gardens and other things, giving it the name "Vishnu Kingdom". Preah Saing Silachey then lived there with his mother peacefully.
Later, the six elder sisters found out about this through a hunter, and they played various tricks, asking their six children to take poisoned foods to offer to Saing Silachey. However, Saing Silachey did not eat them. Thereafter, the six wives requested a throne from King Sena Kottaraja for their respective children.
The King said that any prince wishing to be crowned should go to find a herd of wild animals and fish from Himalaya’s forest for him before they could be crowned. The six princes went to ask Saing Silachey to help them. Saing Silachey used the power of his magic bow to create a herd of wild animals and fish for them to give the King. The King saw that this was the result of the power of Saing Silachey. When the six princes requested to be crowned, the King said they would not be crowned unless they found their aunt, Kesar Somontea.
The six princes then told Saing Silachey to leave his mother, so he rode the King of the lions accompanied by the six princes, led by the conch. Where there was no way, the conch strove for ways for Saing Silachey to travel easily. Saing Silachey asked their six older brothers to wait at a big river, and he crossed the river with the King of the lionsconch and prayed that the conch would take him to where his aunt was.
On the way through mountains and forest roamed by wild animals, merciless giants, demons and evil spirits, the conch and the King of the Lion charged against that beast and defeated them all. As Saing Silachey approached, Komphoan went rambling in the forest, leaving Princess Kesar Somontea alone in the castle.
Saing Silachey reached the castle by air and was told by the deities that that was Kompoan's castle, where Princess Kesar Somomtea was staying. Standing near the castle, the Prince then called his Aunt. The Princess asked information from the Prince, who recounted the story.
Because of the mighty power of Saing Silachey, Kompoan felt so painful in his head that he fell to the ground in the forest, but managed to return. Back in the castle, while he fell asleep, Saing Silachey took his Aunt, together with the conch, out of the castle.
Leaving his Aunt midway in a crystal shrine, Saing Silachey returned to kill Kompoan. After killing him many times, the Prince went back to join his Aunt. Kompoan was reborn and led his sizable army to fight multiple battles. Saing Silachey won the war, killing Kompoan and his men. When Kompoan finally died and upon seeing his Aunt regret her husband's death, Saing Silachey then fired his mighty arrow to create a crystal castle to keep Kompoan body. The Prince humbly bowed to be free from all kanna.
After winning victory, Saing Silachey wished to bring his Aunt back to the Kingdom, but she asked the Prince to also bring back her sister Sopor Tevi from the Naga world. The Prince left his Aunt at a temple where grew magic trees which could provide whichever food she wished to have. After saying good-bye to her, Saing Silachey sought the conch's help, praying that wherever the Naga kingdom, where Princess Sopor Tevi was staying in the conch would lead the way there. He rode the conch and arrivedat the Naga kingdom, where he fought a battle and successfully freed his Aunt's sister. He finally brought back his Aunt and her sister after carrying out a difficult stint.
Seeing the Prince back, the six crooked children brought Saing Si lachey to the mountaintop to pick flowers and ta lked him into leaving the King of the lion, the conch and themagic bow there. They then pushed Saing Si lachey off onto the valley and choked it upwith rocks before they came to tell Princess Somontea that Saing Silachey fell off andalready died in the valley. Princesses Somontea and Sopor Tevi sobbed their hearts outand ran around to look for the Prince, but to no avail. Princess Somontea used thecheesecloth scarf given by the Siva and Princess Sopor Tevi used the hairpin given byKompoan to pray to the deities that: "If Saing Silachey was still alive, the two itemswould be brought back to them. And if he died, they would disappear”.
When the Princesses returned, the six crooked Princes grasped their hands and forced them back to the kingdom. On its return, the King of the lion did not see Saing Silachey. It then flew around to look for the Prince. Then with the magic bow in its mouth, the King of the lion brought along the conch to the Vishnu kingdom. The king of the lion related the story to Princesses Kesar Botumea and Kesar Bopha, who then rode the King of the lion in search of their son. The power of the Prince was so great that the Indra felt irritated and came down to remove the rocks from the valley and retrieve the Prince. The Indra doused the Prince with holy water, making him nicer in appearance and brought him back to the Vishnu kingdom to happily join the two Princesses.
Before heading back for the Kingdom of Panhchal, the six crooked Princes forced Princesses Somontea and Sopor Tevi to tell King Sen a Kottaraja that they were the persons who fought the Giant and the Naga king to bring back the Princesses. But instead, when asked by the King, the Princesses spoke of Saing Silaclley. The six crooked Princes argued, saying: “Don’t believe it;the Princesses were out of their mind, for they miss their husbands. Actually we bring them back." The King said: "If the accounts are different, just stop there." While King Sena Kottaraja was presenting the two Princesses with blessing knots on their wrists, there appeared a junk sailor who handed over the cheesecloth scarf and the hairpin back to the two Princesses. After identifying the two objects, the Princesses told the King about their prayer. They said: "If my dear son is still alive, the cheesecloth and the hairpin will be found." The King asked the two Princesses to joyfully stay in the castle, but they couldn't stop weeping.
The six crooked Princes kept telling the King that the two Princesses cried because they missed the Giant and the Naga king so much that they were out of their mind. So a witch had to be called in to hold a ceremony to heal the Princesses. The king then ordered in a witch to cure the Princesses. While the witch was tying their hands, the Princesses said: "I am fine. Why do you tie my hands?" The witch kept tying and the Princesses kicked the witch until he fell to the ground. The King was so angry that he ordered a palace built outside the castle for the Princesses. One day, while the King, surrounded by his officials, was seated in the pavilion, a lizard fell on his thigh. He got a fortune-teller to predict the event. The prophet said that the King would meet his son, who would be more powerful than the other princes on the continent.
The king asked Princess Somontea about the whereabouts of Saing Silachey. He then ordered Princess Somontea to go and see the son first and he would join her later. When the five reunited, the King brought Saing Silachey and Princesses Kesar Botumea and Kesar Bopha out of the Vishnu kingdom to stay in the Kingdom of Panhcha! Before King Sena Kottaraja came to see Saing Silachey, the lndra cast magic spell on the castle to make it more splendid and attended to by numerous deities as servants. After spending their gleeful day there, they all happily returned to the Kingdom of Pancha! Arriving at the castle, the king married Saing Silachey and Princess Soportevi as his superior wife and Princess Sorak Amachana, the daughter of the king of another kingdom as his second-in-rank wife during a solemn ceremony which last seven days and nights ‘according to the royal tradition.
Later, the king ordered the six crooked Princes in for questionings as to why they bragged about taking Princess Somontea from Kompoan and Princess Soportevi from the Naga king. Saing Silachey then asked the permission to display his mighty power in front of the king, making the six crooked Princes so frightened that they decided to give in. The king was terribly angry, and he ordered the butcher to have the mothers and the children (in all 12) killed. But after the elderly man and woman asked for clemency, the king agreed and ordered them out of the castle to lead an ordinary, miserable life.
