OBEDIENT BABY FROG

Once upon a time, there lived a frog and her baby frog. The mother frog loved her baby very much, so she looked carefully after him.

They had an enemy who was always harmful. That enemy was a vicious snake. "If you see the snake," the mother advised her baby, "you must escape as fast as you can." "I understand, mother," replied the baby frog. Then, the mother left the hole for food.

The snake always searched for food everywhere. He liked to eat frogs very much. He said that the frog was really delicious. One day, in the afternoon, the baby frog was bored and went to play outside the hole. The snake was very happy to see the baby frog, which was going for a walk near, the pond edge. He slid, slowly toward the baby frog.

At that time, the baby frog felt that somebody was gazing at him. Immediately, he looked around, seeing a snake who was staring at him.

Just leaping a few steps, the baby frog got home because during that time he had played close to his home.

Though he was in his home, he was worried because his mother was not yet in.

The snake tried to slither into the frog's hole, but he was unable to go inside. So he decided to wait at the hole door.

"I must wait for this baby frog," the snake hopefully said. "Soon, he will come outside."

A few minutes later, the mother frog arrived. She was very shocked when seeing the snake lying down in front of her home. She realized that this snake wanted to eat her baby, so she thought she would do something to save her baby's life.

Immediately, the mother frog saw a stone on the top of her home. She took little jumps and pushed the stone so as to drop onto the snake's body. At that moment, the snake was surprised and cried. “Ouch! How painful!" the snake groaned with pain and slithered away quickly.

The mother frog felt relief and was very happy. She had saved her baby's life from the snake. The baby frog was delighted because he had acted in obedience to his mother. If he hadn't listened to his mother's advice, he would have become the food of the snake.

- The END -
