MOUSE AND CHALK

Since every long time ago, human has always considered mouse as a bad animal because it destroyed everything. Mouse like to live in dark places, holes, piles of firewood etc.

Mr. Phat was a primary school teacher. Besides teaching, he also grew rice in order to improve living condition. After harvesting, he stored his rice crop in a barn under the house.

Every night, the mice (plural of “mouse”) usually came out… some looked for food, some chased each other, some chewed furniture and some chewed the barn to eat the rice.

Mr. Phat was so furious with the mice. One day, at school, while using chalk to write on the blackboard, he was so disappointed that he complained to “Damn those mice! I hate you all every much.” Hearing that, the chalk felt so pitiful for him.

One day, when returned from school Mr. Phat put a box of chalks on his desk at home. During the quiet night, the mice came out as usual. When they saw a box of chalks, they wondered so much. Some did not dare to be near while some others got closer, sniffed and chewed them happily.

The chalks were so annoyed when they saw the mice destroying Mr. Phat’s belongings and chewing them for fun like that.

One day, the chalks held a meeting to find about a way to help Mr. Phat and to protect themselves.

Knowing that the mice were afraid of cat, the chalks thought of making a cat to scare them away.

At night, the mice came out as usual. But now they did not see the chalks like previous nights, except an empty box. They ran around and played with it.

A moment later, they saw a white cat sitting and looking scarily at them.

Seeing that, they were so frightened and ran away.

Next time, the mice came out to look for food and played as usual. The chalks transformed a cat and scared them away again.

Since then, whenever the mice came out to eat the rice and destroyed belongings upstairs saw the chalk with cat.

The mice were so frightened that they decided to leave Mr. Phat’s house. Since then, Mr. Phat’s belongings and rice were no longer destroyed by the mice.

The END
