GRASSHOPPER AND ANT

During the summer, the ants work hard to dry the grain they have collected.

They work from morning till night.

While the ants are working, a grasshopper sits on a tree nearby. He spends most of his time singing and playing.

One .of the ants says to him, "You should do something to store some food for the winter."

The grasshopper laughs and says, "Oh, that can wait!" The ants keep working hard each day. The grasshopper keeps singing each day. He thinks the ants are silly to work so hard.

Winter comes and the grasshopper is feeling very cold. He is also felling very hungry. He has no food for himself.

The grasshopper goes through the heavy snow to the ant's home to beg for some food. "What were you doing during summer?" one of the ants asks."I was too busy singing then," says the grasshopper. "How could I find the time?" The ant says sternly, "If you can sing the whole summer, you can now dance away the winter!"
